During the COVID-19 Safer-At-Home Order and during any part of the off-season, we encourage you to use the training resources in this blog to develop your skills and stay active so you are ready for the next softball season!
IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR FALL 2023 AND SUMMER 2024 SEASONS:
USA SOFTBALL HAS CHANGED THE AGE CUTOFF DATE TO AUGUST 31 INSTEAD OF DECEMBER 31. PYS IS ADOPTING THIS CHANGE. PLAYERS BORN IN SEPTEMBER-DECEMBER WILL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY IN THEIR 2023 AGE DIVISION.
2024 PORTAGE PRIDE INFORMATION: COACHING AND PLAYER INTEREST FORMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE. TRYOUTS WILL BE SHORTLY AFTER WE CLOSE THE FORMS. **SUBMIT INTEREST FORM NOW**
Training at home, especially during the off-season is a great way to stay active and develop skills so you are ready for the upcoming softball season! There are many training resources available online. This is just one of the options recommended by Portage Youth Softball and the Portage High School Softball Program.
We would love to see our players doing this training drill. You can send us pictures or videos via Facebook or email and you can also post pictures by commenting below. We will showcase some of our players on our Facebook page if they complete this and/or other training drills!
On your knee, backhand toss tennis balls into a laundry basket as shown in the video. You can use sock balls or wiffle balls if you don't have tennis balls.
As a reminder, at this time, all Portage softball facilities are closed. Please stay away from all Portage Community School District facilities. Complete this training drill at your home or at an open location while following all social distancing recommendations.
