Additional COVID-19 Safety Regulations will be in effect for all home games, practices, and other events. Neighboring communities will have their own policies in place for their home events that must be followed. All athletes and volunteers must complete the PCSD COVID-19 Waiver to practice at PCSD facilities.
Home games have been relocated to Veteran's Memorial Field. View our current schedule for the most recent updates.
While we will not be playing any home games at the Portage High School softball fields this summer, we have arranged to play home games at the new City of Portage softball field at Veteran's Memorial Field. Many of our teams used this field to practice before we were cleared to practice at the high school softball fields. 10U games may also be moved to the newest youth baseball field.
Game schedules will be kept the same when possible. However, due to field availability, some games may need to be cancelled or rescheduled for a different date. Always check our online calendar for the most updated game schedule including game locations.
All applicable PYS COVID-19 Safety Regulations are still in effect at the City of Portage softball field. This includes dugout areas being extended to behind home plate, parents/spectators not being allowed near the dugouts, parents/spectators sitting along the foul line and outfield fences, and more.
There are no indoor bathrooms directly on site. There should be a porta-potty at the field. For indoor bathrooms, you can go to the other end of Veteran's Memorial Field and use the indoor restrooms near the soccer field.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this unique season. Updates will contunue to be posted as changes are made.
As a result of the Columbia County Health & Human Services Department (CCHHS) and Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WDHS) classifying Columbia County as a High COVID-19 Activity Level region, the Portage Community School District (PCSD) under direction from the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), is restricting all athletic events on school district property to groups of no more than 10 people.
Therefore, all home games are canceled until further notice. At this time, there is no effect on away games or home practices. Practices can continue to take place on PCSD property so long as groups are limited to groups of 10 people just like we did when we were using the city fields earlier in June. Check with your coach to see if they are using the school fields or the city field. Our online calendar will be updated as events are scheduled, canceled, postponed, and/or relocated. Be sure to check our calendar often and prior to each scheduled event.
Unfortunately, with the uncertainty of whether or not we will be cleared to host any more home games this summer, we have decided to cancel our summer tournament. Teams from throughout Wisconsin were looking forward to competing in our tournament this year. We are looking forward to hosting our tournament(s) next season! More information will be released on our future tournament(s) as information is finalized. Registration for next year's tournament(s) will likely open in February 2021.
We appreciate your understanding as we work through this irregular season. We are making the most of what we have and are grateful that we have been able to get practices in and some teams have gotten a game in! Hopefully next season will be normal again.

Portage Youth Softball Board of Directors
As a condition of using the softball fields located at Portage High School, ALL PARTICIPANTS (including players, coaches, umpires, visiting coaches, and visiting players) MUST complete this waiver.
This waiver will not be submitted digitally. It must be printed, signed, and turned into your head coach. You will NOT be allowed on any PCSD fields, dugouts, batting cages, etc. without this being turned in to your head coach.
For opposing teams, all players and coaches must complete this waiver and turn them in to the head coach of the PYS team you are playing.
For umpires, turn this in to the PYS head coach of your first game. You will not need to submit one for each game.
All athletes that requested a refund and/or registration credit through the COVID-19 Survey prior to June 14, 2020 have now had their refund and/or registration credit issued. Those requesting refunds or registration credits on or after June 14, 2020 will have their requests processed at a later time.
Registration credits are valid for the 2021 summer season. If you selected to recevie a registration credit, you should have received an email with the promo code and how much it is worth. We recommend you save that email or write down your promo code for your reference. We also have these on file so you can contact us prior to registering next year if you forget or lose your promo code. Just remember to use your promo code instead of paying next year! (And be sure to register early so you don't have to pay the late registration fee).
If you requested a refund (or paid a late fee and requested a registration credit), your refund has been issued minus credit card processing fees. It can take 5-10+ days to appear on your statement. Contact your bank or credit card company if you don't see the refund in two weeks. You can also contact us, but we are limited in what we can do since we already issued the refund and it is now being processed by your credit/debit card company.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
We will have a 2020 summer softball season!
Soon you will receive an email from head coaches in which you will find more details about practices (beginning as early as this week). In addition, there will be more guidance as to the policies and procedures we will need all parents and players to agree to in order to safety conduct our season. We look forward to seeing you all on the field soon!
Please remember that many things are not finalized at this point and things may change as the season progresses.
As a reminder, any athletes or volunteers that have not submitted the COVID-19 Survey and COVID-19 Supplemental Waiver are not allowed to participate. Practices are entirely optional at this point. If you do not feel comfortable attending, just let your coach know.
